As always we enjoyed the Capricorn Dinner & Display again this year. We love thinking outside of the box and because it was held in October this year we thought why not have our theme based around Octoberfest! We brought this German festival to Auckland, with an authentic looking German Pub, complete with a Fraulein and Lederhosen Boys.... It was awesome seeing the guys get into costume yet again to complete the look of our stand. This year we were a little more interactive and our customers were able to partake in the ping pong challenge by getting the balls through holes in the bar, it was a creative twist on the old beer pong challenge. Congratulations to Anderson St Panel who took out the Hamper prize on the night!!! Our specially lasered Beer Steins were a hit and will be a collectors items in years to come I'm sure! Thanks again to the team who helped out on the night and PrintZone in Penrose who worked tirelessly on all my crazy requests and made them happen!
Our theme this year was “As Kiwi As” We think that being in the industry for over 40 years we have become a kiwi icon and for that reason we are As Kiwi As, much like pineapple lumps, togs, jandals, fish & chips etc .. We celebrated this by giving away limited edition canvases which were a hit! We even dressed as jandals on the night! Not sure how many volunteers I will get next year though after the guys turned up to be told what they were wearing for the evening !
The Parts Connection team enjoyed the Capricorn Dinner and Display at Sky City Convention Centre.
Our stand was a tropical oasis, with yellow floral lei's and holiday pictures being taken throughout the night.
Of course with the Win Big promotion on now, there is $20,000 worth of travel up for grabs as the grand prize...so a tropical holiday could be the answer to the Winter blues.
It was awesome to see our customers weaving in and out of stands with their yellow leis on, some even enjoyed wearing them at dinner and on the dance floor later in the evening!
Over the weekend of 29th & 30th March the Parts Connection group took part in the Auckland North Relay for Life event. The event ran for 18 hours and was held at Millennium Stadium, Mairangi Bay. The Parts Connection head office co-ordinated the teams to all have a 2 hour time slot. All member companies took part, with some teams excelling with nearly 30 team members. Some of the teams were less fortunate with the times they were given and were come out to participate in the early hours of Sunday morning. On a whole the Parts Connection group had 75 participants for the event.
Pam, Emma and Peter from the Parts Connection head office also ran the PC BBQ truck, during the event selling sausages (kindly donated by the Aussie Butcher Botany) and from 2am Bacon Sandwiches, which brought people out of their tents to feast on. “We are proud to support the NZ Cancer Society as part of our Win Big promotion, and this was our way of showing Parts Connection are continually striving to work with their local communities” said Pam McNickle. Overall we managed to raise over $1000 for the Relay for Life, but also had a great intercompany team building. A special thank you to all those who participated, employees and family members.
Parts Connection had a display at the Capricorn Dinner & Display in Queenstown in March, and took away the best booth award. It was a fun evening as Peter and Pam welcomed Capricorn members onto their stand with boarding passes and jet planes, for a ride on Win Big airways. There were of course a few Malaysian Airways remarks. How were we to know a plane would go missing just before the event!!
Over the last 3 weeks the Parts Connection head office team has visited all the Parts Connection members sites and cooked them breakfast, to launch the promotion and ensure everyone knows how the promotion works. There has been a lot of work leading up to this and we are so excited that the promotion is now underway. It has been great getting out to our members some at ridiculously early times of the morning to cook, eggs, bacon, sausages and hash browns. In Auckland we have of course had some mornings of rain to contend with but all in all we survived! Here are some snaps taken at our launch events….
Parts Connection Annual Pepsi Promotion is now on.

Congratulations to our first winner - Garry from G & T Cars in Kelston. He was very excited to have the lucky Pepsi can for our first draw and win $1000 worth of petrol vouchers. Garry's winning Pepsi can was issued by Toyotaz Galore.
Congratulations to Milton Morely who was a winner with the Parts Connection lucky mug competition last week. Milton couldn't believe his luck when he rang the mug line only to hear his number being called out. He purchased his car parts from Euroline Auto parts in Drury back in 2010 when he received this lucky mug. He walked away with $1000 worth of MTA vouchers!
The Parts Connection team were involved at the start of the Targa rally at the end of October by taking their BBQ truck to the Dotcom mansion.
Drivers, support crew, families and the public descended on the grounds of Kim Dotcom’s mansion near Coatesville, North of Auckland. This year 80 plus competitors arrived at the mansion for documentation and scrutinising before the rally began on the 31st October 2013.
The event ran over four days covering, New Plymouth, Palmerston
North & Havelock North before ending in Taupo.
Two of the Parts Connection members, European Autospares and Euroline Autoparts were competitors in the event, with Raymond Dufton driving one of the cars with his son Michael and Rob Bray pit crewing for his car.
The Parts Connection BBQ truck proudly supported the charity Kids in Cars by cooking sausages for the day with all the money raised being donated to Kids in Cars.
Kim Dotcom enjoyed a Parts Connection sausage and a great day was had by all.
Parts Connection sponsored the Owairoa Netball Club 50th Jubilee fun day at Howick & Pakuranga Netball Centre on Saturday 27th July.
Current players kept family & friends entertained with games and drills and the Parts Connection BBQ truck cooked sausages for everyone to enjoy. The day’s games lead onto a Jubilee dinner with guest speaker Yvonne Willering.
What an awesome achievement for Owairoa Netball Club and Parts Connection were proud to be a part of it.
This year as in previous years we thought outside the box...... we went with a Wizard of OZ theme for our display booth, complete with Tin Man and Dorothy. There was a constant stream of visitors to the Parts Connection booth along with cameras, as everyone wanted to take pictures!! It was a fun evening as people decided to follow the yellow brick road to Capricorn wealth.
